How do I know if my Kitchen is suitable for hand painting?

Most kitchen cupboards and base units are suitable for re-painting and older bespoke kitchens particularly lend themselves to re-painting but any kitchen cupboard finishes can also be painted.

Dark oak, stained and unstained pine, clear lacquered, waxed or varnished wood and even MDF and laminate surfaces are all suitable for hand-painting.

So if you like the layout of your kitchen, and it is functional, but you want a new look, we will deep clean your kitchen, prepare and prime it, and apply a hand-painted finish in any colour of your choice.

Older bespoke kitchens are ideal candidates for refurbishment

If you have old bespoke hand-painted kitchen furniture it tends to be very well made and the process of repainting is usually straightforward. We will check and replace hinges and drawer runners where necessary to make sure they open correctly. Handles and knobs can also be replaced to bring your refurbished kitchen right up to date.

What if some of the furniture needs to be replaced?

We can also assist with installing new furniture if necessary, working with skilled and experienced joiners, fitters and cabinet makers to advise and replace cabinets and worktops, as well as carrying out re-tiling if required.

Having your kitchen painted is a big deal for most of our clients, and we go the extra mile to ease the worry and will always be available to answer your emails and calls and keep you in the picture.

We work exactly to your specifications ensuring the right colours, and the best finishes. I provide a clear, thorough estimate and stick to agreed pricing. We will then work in with your schedule and arrive when we say we will.

There are strict criteria to become a Dulux select member and registered through Trust Mark & Trading standards, the latter being invitation only. When you and your friends walk in at the end of the project, we want you to see a super high-quality finish. I want your reaction to be “It’s a new kitchen!”

Costs

If you are weighing up the cost of a new wooden kitchen, then why not compare it with the cost of a hand-painted refurbishment! An average lacquered oak or pine kitchen in the region of £1,800 to £2,520 to paint and turn it into a new kitchen. Pro rata, a large 35 door kitchen costs from £4,200 to clean, sand, prime and finish to showroom condition. The savings when painting your current kitchen to showroom standard, compared with the cost of a brand new kitchen from a showroom is enormous – the bigger the kitchen, the bigger the saving!
Painting now can buy you time for later.

If you have your heart set on a new kitchen but financially it’s still a few years away, then why not spend a relatively small amount to hand paint your existing kitchen and tide yourself over in style!

Dressing your kitchen for sale

If you are trying to sell your home but your kitchen is proving a major problem to buyers, our hand-painting service can make all the difference, turning an obstacle into a potential sale.
